My 5 year old grandson Jacob has Ocular Albinism and looking at the symptoms online, I feel that he also has Aspergers Syndrom. How do I get that checked out. He is on Tenncare.
The Chattanooga Autism Center is a parent driven group but is run by Team Centers. They are located across the street from Erlanger at 1000 East 3rd St. 1st floor of the Medical Building. The parents and support group meet often, almost every Thursday at noon; otherwise, they have nightly meetings for those who cannot make the daytime. Their website is Chattanooga Autism Center. I know there are several parents with asperger’s children in the group. You may want to come to the meetings and find out more about Aspergers, there are plenty of grandparents involved with the CAC.
Team Center is a group of doctors, therapists, psychologists and social workers who work with kids with special needs not just autism. They work with rare and unusual diseases. Our son has Arnold -Chiari malformation and autism, he goes there every 6 months. I hope they can help you. I am pretty sure they accept TennCare. 622-0500 is their phone number.
Good luck with finding help for our grandson. He is lucky to have such a caring grandparent.
