The Chattanooga Autism Group is a parent group along with Dr. Leslie Rubin and the Team Center involved in providing support, care and services for someone with autism.

Our group meets on Thursday’s at noon at the Team Center 1000 East 3rd Street (across from Erlanger in the Doctor’s Bldng) on the first floor.  We meet for a short time to talk with one another, then from 12:15 to 1:00 Karen Wiegle (psychologist at Team Center) plus others come in and we discuss planning for the upcoming Autism Symposium in February of 2010.

After 1:00, we are free to resume chatting with one another about our concerns in this community for autism.

Once a month, there is an evening meeting, where we have a guest speaker.  Next meeting will be October  5th, 2009 at 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm at the Team Center.

My son Nicolas is 5 yesrs old and has autism. He is doing good, but I feel we need to get more involved with other families and experts to make a better life for my son and us.
My husband Brandon and I will like to know if it’s ok to go to the meeting on October 5. Thank you!

    Hi Claudia:

You are more than welcome to come to all of our meetings. If it is difficult for you to make it, we send out an email of what took place.

Good luck with Nicolas. The Chattanooga Autism Center is open for resource and information now. It is right next to Team Evaluations 1000 East 3rd Street.

Hello! My son (14) has Asperger’s Syndrome. He is well managed at present, but as you are more than aware, it takes constant work! As he enters young adulthood, I am more and more concerned with bullying, pressures and his future. Do you have any resources that might be helpful? I would love to be added to your email list!

    Thanks!

    Lynn,

My son is almost 13 and has Asperger’s. I am concerned about the exact same things you are and I’m searching for resources as well. Would you be interested in trying to get the boys together as friends? I’m always trying to help my son.

Hi Beckie, Please contact the Chattanooga Autism Center at 1100 East 3rd Street or call Team Centers. This is a free and a volunteer group with many different sources and playgroups for kids with autism. My son cannot speak and is 13, but there are kids that do speak. The autism center knows of camps, karate, riding, etc… for your child.

Good luck to you. I am there sometimes. Will be more frequent when school resumes.
